Tsui Yik-chit, Ivy

An independent choreographer specialised in site-specific dance and interested about nature and life. Ivy graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in 2009 with a first class honors degree. Ivy majored in ballet and modern dance and received several awards during her studies, including the Disney Scholarship, a scholarship from the Society of the Academy for Performing Arts and another from the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation.

Her works, Dandelion in 2013 and Breathe in 2014, were invited to the Beijing Dance Festival and Guangdong Dance Festival respectively. Her commission performance and choreographic works from the Hong Kong Arts Festival and the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department included Dehydrated Flower, Frangipani, Morning glory, Absent Presentee and Circus in the Dark–2015 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme. Site-specific Dance, Quan Quan, was re-created at the Café More in Tallinn, Estonia in summer 2017. She was selected to be one of the artists representing Hong Kong in “Finland x Hong Kong Creative Meeting points 2016-2018”, an exchange programme between Hong Kong West Kowloon District and the Finland Zodiak Dance Centre.

She received a nomination for Outstanding Actress at the 7th Hong Kong Theatre Libre 2015 for her performance in Absent Presentee. In the same year, she is the winner of the “Young Artist(dance)” for the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2015.

Her coming up full-length work Water Lilies, will be presented by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department in 2018 October.
